Interesting Boats "Santana"

"SANTANA"
A custom built "Don
Beckner" hull, steam launch, owned by Jerry LaPides, has had a new Beckmann, Limited Model VFT-40 wood fired steam boiler installed to
replace a horizontal water tube wood-fired boiler.  The Santana was built around 1975.  Her particulars are 23'6" X 5'6" X 2'2", the hull is fiberglass.

Santana's engine is a single cylinder bottle type about 3.5" X 5", Circa 1885.  She uses plenty of steam, but pushes the boat at a good clip.  Boiler water is replenished by a Penberthy Injector, a hand pump, or an engine shaft driven cam actuating a piston force pump.
